Thinking Back to Classroom Events

Practice Blog Post
Sept. 4-10

Throughout my many years of school math has always been a struggle for me. However, during my sophomore year of high school, I had a Algebra teacher that really helped me to learn and understand math in a way I was never able to before. For this post I will call him Mr. L. He always had fun little ways of how to remember different concepts. He also went at a steady pace and took the extra time to go over anything I did not understand. This teacher had a way of making sure you I and every other student he taught, feel welcome to ask him for help and not feel "dumb" or "annoying" with a million questions(which was me all the time).

Mr. L taught mostly through a whole group discussion while teaching, but allowed for any student to come up to his desk and ask for help if they were stuck on a problem. He often also allowed us students to break apart into pairs/small groups when working on homework assignments. I really enjoyed this as well because my peers were also a big help to me when I was struggling as well.

In my opinion and I am sure in the opinion of many others who were in his class, felt that Mr. L educated using multiple intelligence's in mind. One multiple intelligence that stood out to me that Mr. L seemed to really associate with was his interpersonal intelligence. He really had a way of connecting with his students and realizing that all students learn at a different pace and in a different way. He recognized this fully and adapted his teachings and taught one thing in a few different ways in order to help all students to learn a particular concept.
